Fun Amazon Products to Buy For Your Cat

You can find almost anything on Amazon. If you have some extra cash, why not spend it on your feline? Show them you love them and buy them something ⭐extra⭐!

Amazon Products Your Cat Definitely Doesn't Need (But You Should Buy Them Anyways Because They'll Look Cute Using it in Pictures)

1. Clear Window Bird Feeder

Cats love watching birds up close. The closer they are to them, the more information they'll gather and the easier it'll be to figure out the best way to catch and eat them. It's a chance to spy on the enemy in their own home...

Cat: This blue birdie never puts butter on his popcorn during family movie nights. He must be allergic. I'll put it in his popcorn tomorrow night when he's not looking...Heh. Smart.

2. Window Hammock Perch

A bed attached to the window is the perfect napping spot for any kitty! Cats love the sunshine and looking outside. It's their chance to assert their dominance in the household and constantly remind you that they'll always get what they want. While you're cleaning the dishes, they'll glance over at you and you'll wish you were them.

Cat: Silly hooman. Cleaning? Look at me. I'm so comfortable. You're not. Heh.

3. Mushroom Scratching Post

All cats dream of a mushroom cat scratching post! It's a great place to trim their claws or file the sides and make them sharper. They'll need sharp claws in case they need to threaten you.

Cats: You think I'm weak. I command you, get up! Hooman, if you don't get up right now, I'll swat your face. Oh really?! Talking back to me? You think this is mad? Do you really want to see what happens when I'm actually mad? I'll whip out the claws! Stop saying I won't do it! No, Mom, stop it!!! I'm not lying. I'll do it! Mommmmm!! Fine. I'll wait for you by the door.

4. Floating Shelves and Perches for Walls

You can set them up almost anywhere in your home! Your cat will love being higher than you. It's their way of telling you that they're better than you.

Cat: Mom, look at me. I'm above you. I run this household now! Now I hold all the power! What shall I do with this newfound power? Something important, of course. I got it!! Mom? Mom? MOM?! Mom, can you buy me a slurpy? Cherry, please. Thanks.

5. Talking Buttons for Communication

By simply pressing buttons, your cat can talk with you! Isn't that exciting? Your dream come true? Now you'll always know what your cat is thinking and feeling. Every second of every single day forever. Fun!

How to Love Yourself

I don't think this is a good topic. What if I can't come up with things to say? Maybe I'll try a different one. Actually, I don't think that's the problem. I'm just not good at writing.

Try again!

Huh? Try what again?

Stop putting yourself down! Rephrase it!

But how? It's the truth.

Say it again.

Hmm...I'm going to do something else now.

Say it AGAIN!

Hmm...no thanks.

SAY IT AGAIN!!!

Hmm...maybe later. I don't have time for this.

SAY IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Geez! Fine. Writing is a challenge but slowly, I see improvement. Every time I write, I learn more and get better.

Better.

How to Love Yourself

Stop being mean to yourself. Where does that get you? Nowhere. Like my mom says, "You have to be your biggest fan." It all starts with changing the way you think and talk about yourself. You can pretend you're talking to your child-self. Be understanding. Be caring. Be kind. It's as simple as changing up your words. When you start to think badly of yourself, rephrase your negative thought and turn it into a positive one. If you can't think of anything, just

ZIP IT.

Need help? Here's a list of (oddly specific) examples:

1. Summer Running

I can't believe I'm only halfway through the run.
Wow! I'm already halfway there!

2. Reading

I'm only a third of the way through my book?! I'm so slow! How does he read so much faster than me?
It's nice reading at my own pace. I can take in all the details, paint a clearer picture in my head.

3. Job

I still don't know a lot! What if somebody asks me something and I can't help them?
I'm new to this! With time and practice, I'll get better. Also, I can always ask my coworkers questions.

4. Crocheting

Seriously! This hat doesn't fit. I spent so long on it! What. A. Waste.
This turned out differently than I thought it would, but that's okay. It was a learning experience. Now I know what not to do. Time to try again!

5. Cooking Grilled Cheese

Oh no! The bread is burnt! I should just throw it away. I can't do anything right. I mess up even the simplest things.
I didn't "mess up." It'll still taste good. I'll scrape off the burnt areas and see if anybody wants it!

6. Driving

I'm so bad at parking! How am I going to pass my driver's test?
One day I'll be able to! I just need to practice and be patient. I'll get the hang of it.

7. Farmer's Tan

I can't wear this shirt. My farmer's tan looks horrible.
Honestly, it doesn't matter. Nobody else cares. I'll just wear it.

8. Rollerskating

11: Oh no! This pair of rollerskates is too small and I can't go back and exchange it. This sucks.
Oh! She'd fit in these. Did she get a size too big? Maybe we could trade. I'll go see if Angela wants my skate.

How to De-stress (Using Only Your Mind)

I stress.  A lot. About everything. Even right now. How long should a blog be? Am I writing enough? Am I writing too little? Is this writing even worth reading? Am I being too informal? Should this be italicized? Will people read this if I don't include pictures? Should I delete this introduction? It's supposed to be a "hook" but maybe it's too confusing to read. Maybe I should delete this.

This past year, I experimented. I found a handful of ways to manage my stress in a healthy way. Once you blow the stress away, everything becomes clearer...quieter.

How to Use Your Mind Powers (That Are Almost as Cool as El's)

When you're trying to quiet your mind, imagine...

1. ...A Little Guy

This little guy is a few feet tall, maybe two feet. His skin is somewhat translucent. It glows like a star. Sometimes he's pink and other times white. He has two little black eyes and a kind smile. He's bald, too. Occasionally, he puts on his black square glasses. He can't see very well but that's okay; he's not helping you cross the street. He serves a very different purpose. Whenever you need him, he'll walk beside you. Tell him what's bothering you. Give him your stress and he'll happily carry it for you. It doesn't disappear. He'll give it back to you, making sure you don't forget it. You need to face it to finally move on. But...why not forget for a little while? Take the weight off yourself and share it with him (plus, he needs the exercise).

2. ...Waves Lapping on a Shore

You're sitting on a beach, wiggling your toes in the sand. The sand is warm, toasting under the yellow sun. Little crabs scurry by, hiding under their brown and white striped shells. The seagulls fly overhead, talking animatedly with each other about the day's adventures and their plans for the coming week. Minutes pass. Hours. It's nice out here. The tide grows higher. It's time. Carefully, you take the stress out of your head and play with it like putty in your hands. It's purple. Leaning forward, you lay it out before your feet. Then the wave comes and washes it away.

3. ...A Leaf Drifting Away on a Stream

It's spring. The air is cool. It blows through your hair and rustles the plastic bag looped around your arm. Inside, it's your favorite lunch. You place it underneath the tree on a thick bed of grass. Standing on your tippy toes, you pluck a single leaf off the lowest hanging branch. Turning around, you venture out towards the stream on the other side of the small valley. You take the stress out of your head and arrange it on the leaf, shaping it and pressing it together. Then you crouch down and place it on the water. For a second, it floats before you but then the stream picks it up and carries it around the bend. Out of sight.

4. ...Huskies Pulling a Sled

Inside the cabin, the fire warms the room. Warms your feet, your hands, your heart. But not your mind. It's still a bit cold. There's one thing left to do. You open the wood door and step out into the night. The heavy layer of snow crunches softly beneath your boots. You see your breath in the air. You wait. It's not long before you hear soft bells ring distantly. The sound grows louder and louder. Six shaggy huskies pulling a red sled materialize out of the thick fog in front of you. You bundle up your stress neatly in a cloth and set it on the little black sled's seat, securing it firmly with the leather belt. Stepping back, the dogs turn and whoosh it away in the direction they came from. You wonder where they'll take it. Heading back in, you realize how much warmer you feel.

5. ...A Little City Inside Your Head

Your arm, it feels heavy. Too heavy. Looking down, you find you're carrying a bag of coals. Your stress. There are too many to count. It's time to go on your first journey into the city. Alone. You're finally old enough. You pull on a wool coat, buttoning it as you step out the door. First, you take the train, then hop on the yellow city bus. Next, you borrow a bike and cycle up the hill all the way to the very top. You see it. The factory. You step inside. Workers surround you. They're happy you're here as they're always looking for more coals. They take the bag and dump the stress into the furnace. You're happy to help. Suddenly, your arm doesn't ache. You feel...lighter.

Anyways...

It's your head. Find what works for you! Imagine something to help you de-stress. Maybe your stress is Angela, and you break her nose with a roller-skate right in front of Mike, who didn't even try to stand up for you.

Thanks for visiting! How do you calm down?

Sorry (Not Sorry)

Sorry, it's been a while. Today is July 13th and my last post was on July 1st. I've been busy. Wait...why am I saying "I'm sorry?" This is my blog. I get to talk about whatever I want, whenever I want. I make the rules.

At this point, saying "I'm sorry" when I'm not at fault or did no wrong is a habit, a habit that needs to go. For one, it makes you look insecure, unsure, and small. Secondly, it makes you feel guilty or maybe ashamed. Lastly, it makes the recipient feel more superior, fueling their confidence. They'll expect others in the future to apologize to them regardless of who's right and wrong, rarely doing so themselves.

Stop saying "I'm sorry" if you didn't do anything! Here's a list of phrases to say instead.

WARNING: Think first. Did you in fact make a mistake? That's a good time to apologize...

Sorry (Not Sorry)

1. Okay, sounds good...

2. I like that idea...

3. I'll try that next time...

4. That's a good point...

5. I'll take it into consideration...

6. I'll ask for more specifics next time...

7. I like what you're thinking...

8. I see where you're going...

9. I see where you're coming from, but actually...

10. Here's what I was told...

11. Let's find ways to ensure this doesn't happen again...

12. Let's try to communicate better next time...

13. I understand your perspective but...

14. Thanks for letting me know...

15. Thanks for sharing this with me...

16. Thanks for informing me...

17. Thanks for bringing that up...

18. I'm glad I know now...

19. I'll try that in the future...

20. Here's what I was thinking...

21. I'm happy you brought that up...

22. Interesting point but I thought we could do this...

23. That's an interesting concept...

24. Interesting, I hadn't thought about it like that before...

25. How interesting, I hadn't considered that...

26. I hear you...

27. I'll think about that one...

28. That's a good one...

Thanks for visiting! Let me know in the comments if you think of more ways! With your permission, I'll add them to the list!

Hobbies

A long time ago, I loved art, especially drawing. I would sit at my desk for hours doodling, sketching, and coloring anime characters. Plan, draw, sign my name, write the date, show my family. It was as simple as that. Gradually, I became better. I was happy. Satisfied.

Then one day, I started to look for references online. On Instagram and Pinterest, I scrolled through pages and pages of beautiful oil paintings, watercolor paintings, charcoal drawings, 3D sketches, and so much more. I can't remember it all; there was so much and I'd never seen anything like it. I was excited and hopeful. People can make this? Wow. Then I'll make it, too.

I remember watching YouTube tutorials about how to draw people from photos and I'd follow along. I'd print out pictures and keep them beside me while I worked in my sketchbook. Looking back and forth between the reference and my art, I'd try to make them look the same, exactly the same. Hours later, I'd finally finish. I'd rip out the page in my book and slide the drawing into a folder without another glance, a folder that'd go tucked under the desk, a folder that'd live in the dark. It'd only see the light years later when I cleaned out my workspace. The truth is, I wasn't improving, or at least that's what I thought. Looking back, I was, but at the time, I couldn't see that.

So...what happened? For a long time, I was at my high point. Suddenly, I dropped low. This might sound familiar, whether or not your hobby is drawing. Maybe you've experienced this rollercoaster of emotions with photography, pottery, skateboarding, or even woodworking. For many, this happens when you expose yourself to "good" work. Suddenly, your expectations shift higher, making it harder to reach them. You set unrealistic goals for yourself.  Over and over, I'd draw a picture and compare it with the "good" work I'd seen. My face would fall. Instead of seeing progress and thinking "oh, the nose looks better than last time" or "wow, the eyes are more symmetrical than before," all I'd see was what was wrong with it. I'd stress over the tiny flaws, wondering why I couldn't do what "everyone else" did. Because I'd seen other people do it, I'd become disappointed in myself if I couldn't. Finally, I couldn't stand the wave of negativity that flooded in ever single time I drew a line. I set my prisma pencil down and I haven't picked it up since.

I'm okay with that now. I don't want to draw anymore, not because of what happened but because I've simply lost interest.

So then, why am I writing this? I'm telling you this now because sometimes, I fear it's happening again with my new hobby, crocheting. I catch myself stressing over the lighting in my photos or the neatness of my work. I compare my crochet items with the work of famous crochet accounts and wonder, "What am I doing wrong? I couldn't tell you why, but my hat looks much worse than theirs." Slowly, I'm adding to my page and growing my content, but still, I feel discouraged. When I look at other small businesses, I think about how much better I'll have to do to be like them.

Lately, with the help of my mom, I've been learning to adjust my mindset and think positively. Here's some things to think about if you're dealing with something similar. Maybe if I encourage others to believe this, I'll be more inclined to believe it myself.

1. First of all, we're all on different paths. Why stop running when the person beside you is running faster? Why do that to yourself? Then you'll never run faster. Then you'll never catch them. Everyone starts somewhere and everyone goes at different paces.

2. Another analogy...some people take big jumps. That's cool. Some people take little steps. That's cool, tooSometimes, it'll be so small you don't notice it. That's okay. If you put in the work and stay optimistic, you'll see progress one day.

3. You don't need to be perfect. You don't need to be like the people you see online. Sure, it's nice to expose yourself to other good work. It helps inspire you and motivate you to continue practicing. But you can't let it poision your mind and make you feel like the work you're doing right now is horrible and pointless. It's not.

4. In life, it's okay for things to be "good enough." Except in a few instances. It isn't good enough to just be kind to others. You have to be kind to yourself, too.
