How to Love Yourself

I don't think this is a good topic. What if I can't come up with things to say? Maybe I'll try a different one. Actually, I don't think that's the problem. I'm just not good at writing.

Try again!

Huh? Try what again?

Stop putting yourself down! Rephrase it!

But how? It's the truth.

Say it again.

Hmm...I'm going to do something else now.

Say it AGAIN!

Hmm...no thanks.

SAY IT AGAIN!!!

Hmm...maybe later. I don't have time for this.

SAY IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Geez! Fine. Writing is a challenge but slowly, I see improvement. Every time I write, I learn more and get better.

Better.

How to Love Yourself

Stop being mean to yourself. Where does that get you? Nowhere. Like my mom says, "You have to be your biggest fan." It all starts with changing the way you think and talk about yourself. You can pretend you're talking to your child-self. Be understanding. Be caring. Be kind. It's as simple as changing up your words. When you start to think badly of yourself, rephrase your negative thought and turn it into a positive one. If you can't think of anything, just

ZIP IT.

Need help? Here's a list of (oddly specific) examples:

1. Summer Running

I can't believe I'm only halfway through the run.
Wow! I'm already halfway there!

2. Reading

I'm only a third of the way through my book?! I'm so slow! How does he read so much faster than me?
It's nice reading at my own pace. I can take in all the details, paint a clearer picture in my head.

3. Job

I still don't know a lot! What if somebody asks me something and I can't help them?
I'm new to this! With time and practice, I'll get better. Also, I can always ask my coworkers questions.

4. Crocheting

Seriously! This hat doesn't fit. I spent so long on it! What. A. Waste.
This turned out differently than I thought it would, but that's okay. It was a learning experience. Now I know what not to do. Time to try again!

5. Cooking Grilled Cheese

Oh no! The bread is burnt! I should just throw it away. I can't do anything right. I mess up even the simplest things.
I didn't "mess up." It'll still taste good. I'll scrape off the burnt areas and see if anybody wants it!

6. Driving

I'm so bad at parking! How am I going to pass my driver's test?
One day I'll be able to! I just need to practice and be patient. I'll get the hang of it.

7. Farmer's Tan

I can't wear this shirt. My farmer's tan looks horrible.
Honestly, it doesn't matter. Nobody else cares. I'll just wear it.

8. Rollerskating

11: Oh no! This pair of rollerskates is too small and I can't go back and exchange it. This sucks.
Oh! She'd fit in these. Did she get a size too big? Maybe we could trade. I'll go see if Angela wants my skate.

Thanks for visiting!
