If Only

Dinner at Mod

     the amount of us odd

My dad and my mom

her warm hand holding my palm

Pineapple pizza and Ceasar galore

one no-name cake for each, plus one more

Work gossip, amazon purchases, about we chatter

dishes clinking, registers dinging, a soft clatter

But already

My

Mind

Moves

Away.

Later

I feel so,

Lonley.

If only.

A hike in Limeridge

I snack on celery and peanut butter, a smidge

My mom and my dad

him wearing his favorite plaid

Embracing me tightly; the wind is strong

blowing leaves from the tree where the bird sings its song

A sparkling stream flows beneath my feet

traveling until the rock it meets

But already

My

Mind

Moves

Away.

Later

I feel so,

Lonley.

If only.

At school it’s finally Homecoming

     the moshers dancing and humming

The brillant green gold lights illuminate the sky

my friend hides it in my pocket, a fry

Giggling and songs ring in my ears

a kid breakdances and everybody cheers

The photobooth with silly props flashes and flashes

she laughs out loud and crashes

But already

My

Mind

Moves

Away.

Later

I feel so,

Lonley.

If only.

If only.

If only.
